Stewardship of Treasure: Self-Evaluation & Commitment
Beginning to Live “A Stewardship Way of Life”
Challenge yourself to “Incremental Stewardship”: this is where we try to increase our giving to the church by at least a half a percentage point – or perhaps one or two percentage points. Or, tithing the full, biblical ten percent – for a single week. Or, for a month. Through our generosity, we will be able to make our dreams a reality, to serve our own adults and children, and to reach out in compassionate love to our community.
There are a number of paths to a Stewardship Way of Life:
1) Incremental Stewardship of Treasure, where we pledge a percentage point or two more than we are now giving, as we work toward biblical tithing, testing how this new generosity impacts our life.
2) Tithing for a week – where we tithe ten percent for the next week and see how this new generosity impacts our life.
3) Tithing for a month – where we tithe ten percent for the next four Sundays and see how this new generosity impacts our life.
4) Biblical Stewardship – believing in the Scriptural promises and making the leap of faith: tithing ten percent.

**************
“Without cost you have received, without cost you are to give.”
-- Matthew 10:8
“I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare. In other words, if our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusements, etc., is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little. If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say they are too small. There ought to be things we should like to do and cannot do because our charitable expenditures excludes them.” -- C.S. Lewis
Please fill out the cards below. Remember, no one – other than you – will know the amount of your pledge. This is between you and God and, if your circumstances change, you can adjust your giving up or down accordingly.
