Outreach & Mission Team

      Among the duties of the Outreach & Mission Team are the following:

     --Coordinate the intentional mission and outreach into the local community which will include intentional ministry for and with the growing Spanish speaking population in Wharton and the surrounding communities.

     --Communicate the needs of the food pantry and help supply volunteers.

     --Annually propose to the Council a general mission or benevolence program. One half of all benevolent giving will be designated for the support of each of the related denominations of which Wharton United Community Church at St. John’s is a union.

     --Shall coordinate which special Sunday offerings from The United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will be used in regular worship services. 

     --Will communicate to the congregation special outreach ministries sponsored by the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference and of the greater United Methodist Church, and of the Newton Presbytery and the greater Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

WHAT CAN I DO? – Volunteer or give where you feel God calling.

PROVIDING MEALS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BENOIT HOUSE: Every Saturday the folks who have volunteered to help build Jim and Pam Benoit’s home are fed. If you would like to help in providing meals (either preparing or paying for), please see Pastor Robin.

VOLUNTEER TIME, MONEY OR FOOD TO THE DOVER FAITH KITCHEN: Contributions can be made directly to Faith Kitchen, Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 East Blackwell St, Dover, NJ 07801. Volunteer your time to Faith Kitchen (please coordinate through Suzanne Capps 973-366-2821). Donate food (please coordinate through Suzanne Capps 973-366-2821).

YOUR WEEKLY TITHES AND OFFERINGS – MISSION & OUTREACH AT WORK!: WUCC pays a portion of our overall budget to The United Methodist Church and The Presbyterian Church U.S.A. for their mission and outreach efforts (locally, nationally, and globally). Things like Africa University, camps, sending missionaries throughout the world, important work with at risk children and youth, scholarships for future church leaders, support for Christian unity around the world, meet the needs of people suffering around the world, etc. Thank you for your stewardship, and your tithes and offerings.

NATIONALLY

ORGANIZE A WORK GROUP: Interested in not just giving money, but rolling up your sleeves and helping out? Help organize a work group that our church can send to the gulf area, to Red Bird Mission, to Appalachia, or many other places in need. See Pastor Jeff or Robin if you are interested.

GLOBALLY

SUPPORTING OUR SISTER CHURCH IN NAOROBI, KENYA: Coming later in the month, we will offer ways that Wharton United can support our sister church in Kenya.
